Woman Killed When Hit by a Car

On Thursday June 23, a woman was killed having left her vehicle on a bridge in St. Louis and was hit by a car.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on the Daniel Boone Bridge that carries Interstate 64 traffic over the Missouri River, connecting St. Louis and St. Charles counties. Stephanie Phung, aged 28 of O’Fallon, Missouri was driving across the bridge when her car hit a tire in the roadway and began to drag it along. She was around the halfway point of the bridge and stopped the car in the right lane and left her vehicle to try and remove the tire. A pickup truck behind her was unable to avoid her and hit both her and the car.

Phung was pronounced dead at the scene

All westbound lanes were shut down for several hours and vehicles were diverted.
